Spectrum Radio DJ Wins Princess Diana Memorial Award

Spectrum Radio's DJ Steven Cheung is one of the winners at the presentation of the prestigious Princess Diana Memorial Award today. The award honours groups of exceptional young people in the UK and Steven is awarded for his work with the Youth Citizenship’s Commissioner’s Youth Advisory Board from the Ministry of Justice.
The Diana Certificate of Excellence Award recognises groups of young people aged 12-18 who have worked together to make their communities a better place to be. The Awards is presented by Tim Loughton MP, Shadow Minister for Children and Antony Steen MP. The ceremony is also attended by Diana Award Ambassador and music legend, Robin Gibb CBE and Diana Award Patron, Esther Rantzen CBE.
Maggie Turner, Chief Executive of the Diana Award, says, “The Certificate of Excellence acknowledges groups of young people in the UK who deserve to be publicly recognised for the outstanding contributions they make to their communities. The recipients will motivate and inspire everyone with their stories about their unique contributions to society.”
Robin Gibb CBE says, “It is humbling to hear the incredible stories of the new Group Award holders. They represent a growing community of young people who will act as a force for good to build a society in which we would all like to live. These new group holders genuinely want to make a difference and the huge impact of their work challenges existing stereotypes of young people by showing that they have the power to be positive role models.”
Esther Rantzen CBE adds. “These young people are an inspiration. Every one of them demonstrates the outstanding difference that young people can make to our society. They exemplify the values of the Diana Certificate of Excellence Award, which will stay with them forever.”
