英國華人爭取無證勞工合法地位

三月三日，近一千多名來自英國各地之華人聚集倫敦，爭取移民權益，要求政府暫緩打擊非法勞工行動，停止撿控僱主，給予無證勞工合法工作之地位。
英國移民局自去年十月突擊檢查倫敦唐人街後，先後在英國多個地區,包括切斯郡、修咸頓、葉士域治、披茅斯, 利勿浦、肯特郡等十多個地區，突擊抽搜查多間華人餐館，打擊非法勞工。
大會向內政大臣提交請願信, 要求政府立即停止針對華人飲食業的搜捕行動，與華人展開對話解決勞工短缺及無証工人等問題。
華人移民關注委員會主席廖業輝表示:內政部的行動對華人社區已經做成嚴重影響，如果情況繼續惡化，他擔心會有餐館難以維持，甚至倒閉。他表示:希望華人團結一致，向政府爭取合理的解決方法。

华人委员会的同胞们你们好谢谢你们一直以来对我们的关心也很感激你们为华人社区的利益和维护非法移民的合法权益做出了卓越的恭喜，我是个非法移民来自福建看了这里的报章我很感动不管结果如何还是要真心的感谢你们，同是也代表我们所有的非法移民向你们表示最崇高的致谢，希望我们能一起努力把以后的华人社区打扮的更加美好

If you work in this country illegally then you should be deported and the employer should be fined for employing you. We came here with all the necessary papers which took years to apply; went to school, university and found work through open competition. We had to work hard to achieve this. If i should want to emigrate to Australia, i will have to go through the proper channel. Why should you be different and jump the queue?! Why must the Chinese community bend the rules and think itself different? I am sure they wouldn't employ an illegal Indian immigrant. The law applies to everyone and this kind of nepotism gives those of us who are here legitimately a bad name !
