Applaud! Hurrah!!!! On the 6th January CY Radio was born under twillight and spotlights …

with a brand new slogan: 'Kickstart the Conversation. We are the On Air Generation!'

The budding DJs of CY Radio had a super-uber SHOW-TIME to celebrate its launch on Spectrum Chinese Community Network and mark the successful completion of the first On Air Generation.

The Show took the form of live open broadcasting in the forecourt at Spectrum International Radio Centre.

The On Air Generation Team shared what they found valuable and new things learnt during this DJ training course, witnessed by their families (A BIG thank you to all families who came out on a Sunday evening in the freezing cold. Hope they found the journey worthy.)

VIP guests included Christine Lee, the prominant Civil Right Lawyer, Christine Yau, one of the influential Chinese community leaders , Daniel Sing, the youngest Chinese local Councillor in the UK, Peng Wen Lan, award-winning TV producer as well as Spectrum's own DJ Alice. They shared their vision about young Chinese volunteering and engaging in the community. They also commented on how impressed they were with the energy and the way you all presented yourselves yesterday so WELL DONE!!!

It was a truely remarkable gathering and listeners shared the historical moment LIVE on 558AM. The guests also had an opportunity to a guided tour to the studios and many of the VIPs recordded special greetings to the new project.
