英鎊匯價持續攀升，美加遊客紛紛選擇前往其它較廉價的地區旅行。英國國家統計局指出，訪英的外國遊客人數今年第二季下跌3%，消費損失估計達39億英鎊。去年11月以來，英鎊兌美元匯率，多次打破記錄，創下1英鎊兌2美元，二十六年來的高位。美國人到英國旅遊支出的費用大增，因而減少了訪英的意欲。相對之下，英國人則利用英鎊的高匯價前往美國觀光，美國不少旅遊勝地，都可以見到英國的遊客。今年前七個月英國訪美人數便增加了2%。你經營的業務可有受美加遊客減少的影響?又或者你是近日手持英鎊到各地消費的一族?又或者你是留學生，因為英鎊高企，而大失預算?
New figures released show that the continuing dominance of the British Pound over the American dollar is souring the "special relationship" of the two countries, at least in the case of choosing holiday destinations. With the Pound at a breaking record height of 1 pound to 2 US$, American tourists are choosing cheaper alternative loactions for holidays. As a result, UK estimated a lost in business of over 3.9 Billion Pound just in the second quarter of this year. At the same time, bargain-hunters from the UK are flocking to the Big Apple in pursuit of cheap deals. Have your business been affected by this? 2. 英國新招打擊青少年犯罪 The ABC of combating Youth Crime
英國發生11歲男童槍擊命案，令英國青少年犯罪問題再度成為國際焦點。內政大臣施卓琪宣佈加強使用ABC契約，加強管束輕微犯罪的年青人，避免他們犯上嚴重罪行。ABC契約全名為Acceptable Behaviour Contracts，即「良好行為契約」。青少年初次犯上反社會行為罪行，如破壞他人財物，未成年飲酒，街頭滋事等，只要簽署一份契約，保證不再犯罪，即可避免被起訴或罰款。你覺得ABC契約有用嗎?你覺得英國青少年犯罪問題嚴重嗎?你有沒有受到童黨的滋擾?
The world was shocked by the shooting of 11 year old Rhys Jones in a Liverpool pub car park. With the dramatic increase of youth crime in Britain, Jones is the latest of 18 young people who have been shot or stabbed in the country. Home Secretary Jacqui Smith announced this week her new measures to tackle the problem and one of the focus is a huge expansion in the use of the ABC, the Acceptable Behaviour Contracts. Police are being urged to let more vandals, joyriders and teenage drunks escape punishment if they agree to sign the "contract". The published list of offences which could lead to an ABC includes harassment, verbal abuse, criminal damage, writing graffiti, threatening behaviour and racial abuse. Under-age drinking or smoking, kerb-crawling, prostitution, begging, drug misuse and joyriding may also qualify. Do you think the ABC is an effect tool in crime prevention? Once the four Kings of Canto-POP, Aaron Kowk revealed this week he was troubled by the press naming him "the King of Downhill" a few years ago when he changed direction in his career. I am enjoying the high pound rate in Hong Kong. It really does make a differece. I feel sorry for the parents who have to send money to their kids in overseas who saw their money disappeared though.

The governemnt should learn not to use gimmick like this. How is ABC going to solve youth crime? More like Jacqui Smith need to go back to school to learn her ABC.

Anyone seen any of the ABC contract? I think it is a joke when i read it in the newspaper, but apparently it has been running for 4 years. I think the world is going mad.

I live in a "bad" area and never go home late in fear of robbery. Unfortunately I am a poor student so I can't afford to move and the rent here is very expensive. The high pound is hitting me hard as well because I rely on my parent sending me money and recently the exchange rate mean i get less fro the same ammount they used to send over. Some of my friends have gone home for the summer to save money, but I need to prepare for my final year so have to suffer the expensive life here

My business is not based on tourist so haven't really suffer. Also we have new tourist from the Eastern Europe, they might not spend as much as the American but they are much larger in numbers.

英國警察已經多了，但犯案數字也多了。英國面對的是世界性的問題，好難怪內政部官員不力。青少年教育是其中重要的一環，家長的教育卻有待推行。

I think it is the education system that is letting our kids down. Teach them ABC in the school is better than signing ABC contracts with them.

ABC is just pack of the package. At least there is not a way to monitor these kind of Ant-social behaviour. It is not realistic for the government to send every kid who vandals. It will also encourage people to report on minor crime as they know they won't be putting a young kid to prison.
